Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Discipleship Team:

Bible studies are offered throughout the year.  Currently, four studies are being held.

Wednesday Mornings 9:30 a.m. at the church

Two studies are currently being offered on Wednesday mornings.

The study led by Vickie Rudd is looking at the book of James. No material is needed to join this study.

The other Wednesday morning study is  Faithful, Abundant, True: Three Lives Going Deeper Still.  In this study, Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer speak on different aspects of the Holy Spirit.  Kay Arthur teaches on faithfulness from the book of Hebrews; Priscilla Shirer teaches on God’s abundance from Ephesians 3:20-21; and Beth Moore teaches on the importance of discernment that we may be able to distinguish between truth and falsehood. Lillie Mack is our leader.

Childcare is available at the church.

Wednesday Evenings 6:30 p.m. at the church

Key Principles of Biblical Fasting by Kay Arthur and Pete De Lacy is being led by Lorri Landon.  This small-group study is for women who are interested in learning for themselves more about what the Bible says about fasting. Through this study, you’ll gain a clear understanding of the principles behind this practice and be equipped to make fasting a part of your relationship with God. We’ll also learn about the different types of fasts in the Bible, how those can be adapted for today’s believers, and explore the heart behind fasting that can also take the form of a fast from something other than food.

Monday Evenings 6:30 p.m.

The Monday night study is on the Messianic Psalms (Psalm 20-29) and is led by Brenda Jones.  This will be combining 3 studies on the Psalms to make one good informative class. There will be 2 short DVD’s and a little on the history of the book. I think this will help us understand how better to read the Psalms and understand the origin of the book.

Call the church for location information (660)665-4633.

Fellowship Team

Monthly Fellowships

Monthly opportunities to get together with other women for fun, food, and fellowship are being planned. Leadership is open for planning Women’s Fellowships for spring and beyond.  If you’re interested in helping plan some fun or informative get togethers, please contact Kay Shelby.

Ladies’ Carry-In Lunch

A carry-in lunch is enjoyed every other month at the church.  There is usually no program, just a good meal and conversation.  Children are welcome, but childcare is not provided. Our next carry-in lunch will be in December.

Service Team

The Service Team is where you can put feet to faith and words become actions.

Public Servants of the Month

Each month, the Service Team will be delivering our homemade goodies to our public servants.  Sign up in the foyer, as requested, to donate yummy treats.  The other half of this project is prayer support.

Love, Lily

Love, Lily is dedicated to demonstrating God’s love to women and their babies by donating handmade baby items to LifeLine Pregnancy Resource Center. Love, Lily is a tribute to the life of Lily Potter who died when she was two months old in 2005. Knowing that God’s purpose for her life was greater than her few number of days, this ministry was founded by her parents, Tony & Stacy Tucker-Potter, to be a demonstration of the love learned from knowing Lily.

We want to show the love God has for women and their babies by giving of our time and heart. These blankets and booties are prayerfully made in the hopes that the warmth and comfort they give will be a testament to God’s love for them during the pregnancy and for their entire lives.

The Women of HSBC fully support this project by making handmade layette items.  Baby booties, hats, and blankets are welcomed donations as are materials.

For more information about Love, Lily, contact the Stacy at tuckerpotter@gmail.com.

Other projects include:

Meals

Occasionally, meals are needed for an event not covered by any of our other ministries.  Such was the case in 2009 following the May tornado when we were asked to provide meals for workers who were in town to help clean up.  In 2011,  HSBC women provided a meal for the Baptist Builders who were in town working on a house owned by the BSU.

Food 4 Kids

In August, the Service Team coordinated our volunteer effort with the local Food 4 Kids program which prepares and serves lunches to those in need during the summer.

Other ideas are being generated.  If you have a suggestion, please contact Kay Shelby or one of the Service Team leaders.

Conferences Team

Do you enjoy going away for a day, a weekend or more for a refreshing time with other women to a women’s event?  Plans are being made to attend a variety of conferences both near and away.

Prayer Team

Our Prayer Team anchors all the aspects of our ministry to Christ.  These women lift up our leaders,  workers, activities, and events in prayer.

Our monthly Women’s Prayer Breakfast is held at Rosie’s Northtown Café on the second Saturday of each month  at 9 a.m.  No RSVP is necessary, but if you would like more information, please contact Pam Barnett.
