2007 Sports for Christ Retreat
Friday & Saturday, March 9 - 10, 2007
At Truman Recreation Center, Truman Baptist Student Union, & Hamilton Street Baptist Church

Our 35th annual Sports for Christ Retreat was a great success!  We had a total of 213 youth plus many sponsors and workers from 14 different churches.  Praise the Lord for the decisions that were made at the service on Saturday night.  Scott Brawner served as evangelist for the weekend, and Mike Porter and Fisherman's Dream were the musicians. 

Sports for Christ Retreat (SFCR) is an annual ministry which occurs every March.  SFCR is an area-wide event hosted by our church where youth compete in sports – volleyball, basketball, soccer, bowling, billiards – as well as a Bible Quiz and puzzle & word games.  The main focus of this two-day event is evangelistic, as the youth are encouraged to invite their friends to listen and learn about Christ during the devotional times and the worship services throughout the weekend.

Friday, March 9, 2007

5:00 p.m.	Register at Truman BSU - Please have one sponsor available by 5:00 to register your group.
5:30 - 6:30	Welcome / Devotion / Announcements at Truman BSU
6:30 - 6:45	Travel to Truman Rec Center
6:45 - 10:15	Competition begins in volleyball, soccer, and basketball
10:15 - 10:30	Hit the showers or head for home!  Please do not leave until you have been dismissed.
10:30	Those youth from towns too far to return home for the night, sleep on church floors - guys at HSBC and girls at Truman BSU

Saturday, March 10, 2007

8:20 a.m.	All youth/sponsors arrive with tennis shoes in hand! (We will begin on time!)
8:30 - 3:30	Competition completed in soccer, basketball, and volleyball Around 11:45, we'll stop for a devotion.  Please do not leave until we announce it is time for lunch!  Youth groups and sponsors on your own for lunch.  Please return on time (we will tell you what time to be back.)
3:30 - 5:15	Puzzles and Word Games at HSBC (802 W. Hamilton) Bowling competition at Leisure World (2310 E. Illinois) Billiards competition at Leisure World (2310 E. Illinois)
5:15 - 5:30	Travel to Hamilton Street Baptist Church
5:30 - 5:45	Everyone meets in the sanctuary for instructions
5:45 - 8:15	Bible Quiz competition Dinner will be served at the church Vote for Most Christ-like Team at Workers' Meeting (approx. 5:30-6:30)
8:15 - 8:30	Travel to Truman BSU
8:30 - 9:45	Worship Service and Trophy Presentation
9:45	Head for Home!
